The world's most boring television show

Back in November 2009, Norway's public broadcaster NRK showed a real-time 7 hour train journey from Bergen to Oslo along the Bergen Line. An estimated average of 176,000 watched the show, with a peak of 1.2 million Norwegians tuning in to the programme at least once.

The show was a major hit, received widespread appreciation both in local and online social media outlets, and lead to the creation of many more TV shows for NRK in the coming years, including a 134 hour ferry ride, a 12 hour firewood night (in which folks cut firewood and burned them in a fireplace) and a 8 hour salmon fishing trip (where the first fish was not caught for the first 3 hours).
